Welcome to the second edition of the New World Marlborough Marathon on Saturday December 3rd 2011!  We spent a long time planning the first event and now we can't wait for number two to get underway. Here's hoping it's another stunning Marlborough day for everyone to enjoy.

As a runner or walker you will have a choice of the 21.1km, 10.5km or 5.25km course and for the hard-out weekend warriors and elite there is the certified 42.2km marathon course for the runners. There is a 10.5 km team section for Business, Social, and Family teams and there are men, women, and mixed team categories. The time for the teams is taken on the combined time of all three members. This is not a relay! 

No matter what distance you are taking on as a challenge you'll start and finish from Seymour Square, the civic heart of Blenheim. Surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens and looked over by the magnificent clock tower you'll quickly find yourself leaving the buildings behind and running through the beautiful Taylor River walkway, a running and walking artery created by the local council as a link through the whole town and out to the vineyards and farms surrounding the town. We're not guaranteeing sunshine but your chances are pretty good, we seem to battle in out with our neighbours in Nelson for the national sunshine hours title each year.

Not only will you be running a glorious course in superb surroundings, you'll also be eligible for loads of high value giveaways and spot prizes. Your entry will also make a difference to the local community as 5% of it will go to local charities such as the Cancer Society plus a number of schools and clubs.

All marathon finishers receive a medal and all full and half marathon finishers will also receive a bottle of Mud House wine as long as you are 18yrs plus of course! We promise there will also be a treat for all the quarter and mini marathon walkers and runners.
